Imagination is one of our most important assets
The latest research on ‘imaginal tapping’ and its efficacy has just been released.
Dr. Peta Stapleton reports MRI scans showed that the feeling state was able to get reduced, and this correlated with the areas in the brain being activated with imaginal tapping. The patients imagined tapping on the acupressure points, which showed physiological and neurological changes. THIS IS EXCITING!
In my life, I have used my imagination as a superpower, especially when I trained for the Half Iron event.
I imagined myself during each leg of the race. I imagined myself swimming (and I drew it in my journal), riding my bike up the hills, smiling and finishing the race with the biggest grin after a 21 km run! All of this came true because I had rehearsed and imagined every step of the way. The brain doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined. Imagination is the creative power that plays an important role in success.
Imagination can be harnessed when we are in therapy to open the doors to other possible scenarios. Change happens when are willing to make the commitment to do something different.
